This training is provided by a NRA Training Counselor and Certified Instructor.

The legal portions of the course will be taught by a Michigan Attorney having extensive experience with firearms and firearms law.

The Personal Protection in the Home course includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 3 hours of range time firing 100 rounds of ammunition.

These are just some of the subjects covered in the course:

• Selecting a handgun for self-defense
• Safe storage, use, and handling of a pistol
• Ammunition knowledge and the fundamentals of pistol shooting
• Pistol shooting positions
• Firearms and the law, including civil liability issues and the use of deadly force
• Avoiding criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation
• All laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state
